Get To Know Your Coffee Beans

http://www.experienceproject.com

My day isn’t complete without having a cup of coffee in the morning. It literally makes my day and makes me stay awake during my 7A.M morning classes. When I am late for school, I don’t eat anymore my breakfast but I make sure that I drink my coffee. I’m no coffee addict; it’s just that I wanted something that can heat up my empty stomach especially in the morning. I know this happens a lot to you too!

On this day, I pondered about what are the kinds of coffee beans that are out in the commercial and thought that it is a good topic to post. So I researched and here it is! There are currently 73 types of coffee beans, but only three (3) types of these coffee beans have commercial significance in the global market. These are Liberica, Robusta and Arabica.

1.)    Liberica – This is the type of coffee beans that are commercially available here in the Philippines. In the province of Batangas where these coffee beans are known as “Kapeng Barako” are naturally grown and have a good market. Of course there are other types too that can be found in the province of Benguet and other places but, this is the most famous native type of coffee here. They are known to have distinct aroma and a strong taste. That’s why it is called Barako, it is strong and it has this aroma that you couldn’t resist. I would rather choose one of these instead of having a coffee made from Arabica beans. This bean has a lot of potential; it only needs some good attention and market. If you want to try one of these, don’t hesitate to contact us at agreenearth4you@yahoo.com. We’ll even teach you on how you’ll cook these wonderful beans, the Filipino way!

2.)    Robusta – This type of coffee is common in the United States and Europe. These also taste good but its quality is low-grade compared to Arabica. It is commonly used in espresso and I think Starbucks also use these beans on some of their goods. Robusta’s pride relies on its body; it is its greatest attribute. Studies show that Robusta’s caffeine content exceeds twice the amount of caffeine content of Arabica making it a good substitute for those who wants more caffeine. With these, it became popular and became a world commodity. By the way, caffeine is a compound found in all of these beans that is responsible in making you active and alert. This gives you the extra push when you are sleepy.

3.)    Arabica – The world’s famous coffee bean! Its fame reflects on its price, it is pricey compared to other types of bean but it is worth it. Like Robusta, it is used in beverages and is known to originate in present day Ethiopia. These are commonly hand picked due to the fact that they are commonly found in areas such as mountainous lands where machine cannot go. Arabica have subtypes, Bourbon, Typica and Caturra, It is said that Bourbon contains the best quality and considered as the world’s finest bean! When compared to the other two mentioned above, these types of coffee beans contain the smallest amount of caffeine but are said to have the most desirable flavour. Well for me, we all have different taste buds; we only need to look for something that really suits our personality.
